The City Council of Puerto del Rosario, through the Department of Commerce directed by David Perdomo presents for the second consecutive year the Manga Canarias Festival, being a commitment to the most popular Japanese culture at the international level that will turn the capital majorera the next 2, 3 and 4 December in a commercial and cultural attraction for lovers of manga and anime.
This Tuesday, the mayor of the capital’s City Council, Juan Jimenez, and the councilman of Commerce, David Perdomo, along with Sergio Falcón, from the company organizing the event, Zukoabega Producciones, and Tenesor Cruz, gave all the details about this ‘Atlántico Festival – Manga Canarias’ that will bring the culture that has more followers around the world to Puerto del Rosario, and that aims not only to entertain and bring the best of Japanese culture to the capital majorera, but for this, in turn, become an economic boost to encourage shopping in shopping areas of Puerto del Rosario.
Thus, the first weekend of December, Puerto del Rosario will become the epicenter of Japanese culture and cuisine, where there will be musical performances, meetings with artists, parades with cosplayers, illustrators, K-pop contests, Karaoke, Cosplay, video game tournaments, sports exhibitions, children’s workshops, role-playing and card games, as well as a “market” area where you can buy different products from the world of manga and anime and crafts of the theme, as well as the first ‘Japan meet’, concentration and exhibition of vehicles of exclusively Japanese brands.
This cultural trip to Japan guided by anime and materialized in a festival will be hosted in different areas with different proposals and several stages spread throughout La Plaza de La Paz and surrounding streets and spaces, where we will also find rest areas and street food area ‘Gastrotaku’ with different gastronomic proposals such as sushi, ramen, dorayakis and fast food, among others.
In short, there will be three days to enjoy in the capital of a very complete program that comes to respond to the success and demand of the first edition, making Puerto de Rosario in a reference of one of the most acclaimed cultures and that more economy moves in recent decades.
In the words of Mayor Juan Jimenez, “this new initiative that we bring to Puerto del Rosario comes to expand the stereotypes and boundaries of the festival itself related to the manga world that last year had its pilot edition, being embryonic of what may become a festival saga in relation to anime and Japanese culture in our municipality”.
And the councilor adds that “traditionally there has always been a link between Japan and Spain in relation to different aspects, and in this festival we will have the gastronomic aspect and the industry of the video game sectorthat, in addition, underlie with events of this type, in which many youtubers and prestigious specialists within this sector of video games related to anime or manga theme will be present at this festival, which will place the municipality at an international level”.
Therefore, culminated the first municipal official in the presentation of the event to the media thanking Zukoabega Productions “the celebration and implementation of this festival that has been developed with so much care and so much tenacity, and we encourage everyone to approach it and enjoy or get started in Japanese culture.
For David Perdomo, councilman of the area of Commerce that drives this Manga Festival: “This is a unique opportunity to attract an unusual tourism to Fuerteventura and Puerto del Rosario and, therefore, open new avenues of economic momentum for our municipality. Last year’s edition was a success that undoubtedly moves us to continue organizing this festival in order to improve the situation of our merchants and put Puerto del Rosario in the focus of one of the most followed cultures in the world”.
